Protein levels raised in annual blood test

Hi I'm anxious as my gp requested repeating my blood tests because of protein level being increased. I have had abcessss in my mouth and recent route extractions prior to test they are slow to heal but apart from that ok. I'm scared they are looking for something sinister. Any guidance / support please

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

It is quite normal when patients present with an abnormal result to repeat the result to see if it is now within normal limits. There are different reasons why it could be raised such as your recent mouth infection. We can't diagnose you and although it is unsettling waiting for results I am afraid until you get those results no one will be able to tell you any more.

Try if you can not to think too far ahead. Wait for the results and then do question your doctor about the new result and what it means for you.

I hope that you know more soon.

    All the Best,

    Catherine

  • Hi Catherine

Thank you for your message I have had a scan today and have a very small cyst on one of my ovaries. It doesn't look sinister but I am being referred to a gynocologist just to see what the next steps are if anything at all.

I also have a thickening of the uterus which is not cancerous but could also affect the blood results.

I can breathe now for a while.

    Thanks
