Neratinib

Hello, I started neratinib on 20th November and after 13 days was taken into hospital due to severe diarrhoea and sickness. Would like to hear anyones own experience on managing this medication, I'm currently weighing up the side effects with the benefits. I'm currently taking a break until I go back to see my Oncologist next week.

  • Hello there and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about the side effects you are experiencing due to Neratinib, unfortunately these are common side effects with this drug as described here but your doctor should be able to give you medications to help manage both the sickness and diarrhoea, if this were to happen again.

Often after a while of taking Neratanib the body gets used to this and side effects can ease off altogether, in other patients the doctor may decide to reduce the dosage to see if this improves symptoms for patients.

This is the 'ask the nurses' thread so whilst others are welcome to post here you may get more people commenting on other parts of the forum. I hope you do hear back from others who have been through similar to you so they can share their experiences and perhaps things that have helped them.

Do talk it all through with your oncologist next week to help you decide the way forward.

You are welcome to come back with more questions if you have any or call the nurses on 0808 800 4040 mon-fri 9-5.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
