Sorry about you news. I really hope you get a positive outcome. My mother in law is going through similar situation currently. She has few health issues meaning she's high risk (near the 5 percent) if she goes ahead and operation. They have said that she may not have a better quality of life after. This why they are informating her of the risks.
They are pretty sure it's Cancerous but can't find out until it's been removed. They have said that it's currently all inside the kidney. Looking at the stages on here she is 2 as it's greater than 7cm.
Did you they say similar to you on diagnosis? From what I have read you can't do a biopsy because there is a chance of disturbing the cells and it spreading.
