As a general rule, radiotherapy isn't usually given twice to the same part of the body, but it could be given if the field of treatment doesn't overlap or if the combined dosage received is considered to be acceptable. I think this is something a clinical oncologist who specialises in giving radiotherapy treatments would probably need to decide about. I am not sure if this is one of the options you were given, cancer treatments tend to be reviewed by a multidisciplinary team (MDT) made up of doctors from different sorts of disciplines so an oncologist should be involved.

Many thanks Julia, my Cosultant said I have three options, no treatment, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, or surgery.

I mentioned that I had received 37 sessions in 2011, however, that was in a different NHS location (Leeds), I am now in North Cumbria.

That is the main reason for the question.

I am hoping to avoid surgery.

I will let you know the outcome with reference to method of treatment.

Did they remove your bladder? or did the radiotherapy sort  it?
