Thanks for your input. I think i will phone the stoma nurse and see what she has to say but i already asked 2 and they have no idea. I will let you know how i get on.
Sylvia
Sylvia, I'll be interested to hear if you find out anything as I haven't learned anything new about wind in the bag in the last 2.5 years.
Some info i got from the stoma nurses. They said that the air that is coming into Ronnie's night bag could be to do with the small peace of bowl they make the stoma with. and that it could settle down or not go away at all. So i phoned Ronnie's consultants secretary and asked her to have a word with him about it. That's as far as i have got. Ronnie has been put on twice a day iron tabs and build up drink a day. He looks really drawn and white. It's only like 5 week on Thursday since the op but i wish he would eat more. I have known him 51 years and i have never seen him look so poorly. I think it's the lack of sleep that is affecting him more than anything.. He looks like a little old man since coming home from the hospital. He looked better when he had the cancer. He looks like a ninety year old not like a 70 year old that he looked like before the op. As time goes by i am sure he will recover. He has a telephone call from his consultant on the 3/1 it's a shame he cant ask Ronnie in so he can have a look at him. Never mind we cant have everything..
Regards from Sylvia
Hi Sylvia hope you are ok.
Before the appointment with the consultant make a list of things that you want to ask, as we all forget as soon as we speak to them, we put the phone down and then remember.
Ronnies lack of sleep could be helped by your doctor, my doctor was really helpful when I had extensive gynaecology surgery, it was mid Covid but l was seen frequently, by the surgery nurses for wound care they then got the dr to see me. I did need to take my pain relief by the clock rather than waiting for pain. lts still early days as everything has to heal. and knit back together.
Take care
Susie
I don't think Ronnie should be taking sleeping tablets incase the day bag fills and backs up. Yes i agree it is early days. Today it is 5 week since Ronnie had his op. I spoke to the stoma nurse that works with Ronnie's surgeon and told her about Ronnie's night bag and she said she was going to have a word with the surgeon and would ring me back. So i will let you know when i here anythin
Sylvia
Hi Sylvia
I'm pleased to hear that the stoma nurse is checking with the surgeon for you, he's the one who has the experience of this type of surgery and it's post op effects.
Five weeks is not long Ronnies suture line probably looks healed but inside takes ages, it's all bruised, battered and settling down. Following extensive gynaecology surgery l was quite a time before l could lift anything heavy and a while before driving was comfortable as you need to twist and turn to reverse, my husband also has the habit of pulling the handbrake on really hard!
take care and enjoy the Christmas Tv with Ronnie it does improve at Christmas time
