Hi could be the antibiotics nitrofuradantin is a bit tough on the gut they given me the runs. . If he's just had the one injection he should get better in a day or two. Then his appetite should return if not contact your surgery.

I don't know what that injection was named when he had the CT dye scan yesterday but i do know it was incase i got an infection after having the stents out. The other antibiotic tablets are called ciprofloxacin 500 twice a day he started them in hospital when he went in for his bladder and prostate removed and they sent him home with the rest. He has another 4 days to go.So because of that and he isn't eating very much at the moment i am going to space out his other tabs and not mix them to see how he goes. He has had a cup of full fat milk coffee and a small bowl of cornflakes and a slice of toast and half of a banana for his breakfast and his asprin with a cup of tea. He hasn't been sick yet so i am going to wait 2 hours before i give him the 500 mil antibiotic and just play it by ear.

Hi Sylvia
that's a good idea I think tablets fight with each other sometimes, spacing them out and taking with food helps. I hope he's feeling better today being sick is not nice, the X-ray dye may have caused him to be unwell. That should be out of his system by tomorrow drink plenty.

Hi Sue Ronnie not doing too good with eating and he had a blood test yesterday and it's come back anemic. He is already on iron tabs that he got from the hospital. The doc phoned and wanted to see him in the surgery and i said no he has just had major surgery He is eating very little and said if he eats too much he will be sick. The antibiotics finished yesterday.. I worry he might have to go back in hospital although his stoma is fine it's just the anemia i am worried about . The doc is phoning back so we will see what he says.
Sylvia
Hi Sylvia. Sorry to hear that he's anaemic the pills help but will take time. so if he's really showing signs of low heamaglobin a top up of blood would make him feel much better, He could have it and come home again quickly. I'm sure he's happier at home with you. He was bleeding for a long time. So it's a case of see what the doctor says but getting his anaemia under control could help his lack of appetite.

Hi Susie the doctor didn't bother to phone back about Ronnie so they cant be that concerned about him. Maybe because i told them that he already was given iron tablets when he left the hospital. so i am just going to see if the doc phones tomorrow. If he doesn't i think i might phone his stoma nurse. When she took his stents out she said to phone any time i get concerned. So we will see tomorrow.
Sylvia
The doctors didnt phone me back yesterday so they cant be that bothered about him. Maybe they will phone today i will let you know'
Sylvia
The doctor phoned said Ronnie needs another blood test in a weeks time and sending a district nurse. Nothing else
Sylvia
Hi Sylvia that's great as they are not rushing him into hospital, he needs some food to make iron in his blood how about soups the Heinz big soup is nice when you're not feeling too hungry. Does Ronnie drink milky coffee? That may give him some energy or hot chocolate made with milk.

Yes he likes his coffee made with all milk so i have been buying full fat for him and started giving him 2 sugars instead of 2 sacring.. I have been giving him soups and he has a slice of bread with it.
