If a woman has already gone through the menopause and needs a hysterctomy along with ovaries , does she go through the menopause again and experience menopause symptoms ?
Thanks
Not sure if I can help, but I was in menopause for 5 years before hysterectomy, i was already pretty lucky no hot sweats, but nothing changed after the op,
Thanks for your reply , yes that helps , I just had a biopsy today and I am 12 years postmenopause and got through menopause without HRT , so I wouldn't be happy about having to go through it again lol.
I was lucky that never suffered any symptoms in menopause, so was worried would suffer after hysterectomy and they took everything, possibly only thing I've noticed that's different I have to think about things more and some brain fog, but not sure if that's menopause or anxiety since diagnosis
thank you for replying .
Hello and thanks for your further post,
If you have reached menopause, (defined as having no periods for two years), then you are not going to experience new symptoms of this after surgery.
There is NHS information here about the surgery,
I hope this helps,
Best wishes,
Vanda
Thank you so much , this helps .
I'm 12 years post menopausal , and just had a biopsy for PMB , and have a cyst on right ovary , I am going to ask for a hysterectomy because the geynocologist said he would have removed the ovary yesterday , but not allowed to as he has to justify why . I understand .
He origianally said I was showing signs of a polyp , but the report was brief afterwards and just said a hysteroscopy was done a biopsy taken for thickened endometrium, biopsy taken 31/62 whatever that means .
