Had my endometrial biopsy today

Feeling really sad , because they thought it was a polyp, it's 22mm the endometrium and now I am waiting 2-3 weeks for results.

Do they take any of the thickness away or just take a biopsy ?

I'm now worried because it means I still have to deal with the bleeding , so no futher ahead just more worry .

  • Oh okay! Thankyou for letting me know!!
Its a really long story but basically I have PCOS, always had irregular periods but nothing major! Was told I basically couldnt have children, in lockdown suprisingly I fell pregnant! Had a very difficult pregnancy, ended ip in emergancy c section & put under for it! Shortly after I started to what I think is period, bleed.. the bleeding when on for 10 months straight absolutely no break.. then from that mark it was like i bleed for 23-26 days then im off for a week then back to 23-26 in a total cycle basically! More recently Ive had extreme pain to the point I cannot walk, my legs go dead! 3 months ago I started getting headaches that were lasting 4-5 day every month.. ive never suffered from headaches ever! But there are something else like I cant move my head at all and moving my eyes is extremely painful! Joined with that I am not sick every single day, like physically throwing up! I dont feel unwell when it happens it just happens like a wave, then im totally fine! My pain and everything is just getti my worse and Im bleeding in the night every 2 hours through my tampon, my matress carpets ect are all destroyed! Any how they were doing some swabs and he said im actually going to do a biopsy at the same time, so I was not at all prepared! The pain from it was something else, nothing like what they said 'period cramps' - anyhow its been 2 weeks now and nothing! I keep calling im very panicy about this! They said the results are not back but someone will call me wednesday to update me? I just hate the waiting sorry for the ramble xx

  • Hi, its okay you need to let all that go and just writing it down can help. I don't know what to advise as mine was comepletely different to you , I had endometrial cancer , but its been removed now and I am recovering . They might be checking for polyps which is common and they can be removed . You could have anxiety and stress that is causing the headaches and throwing up , I'd get it checked out at the GP , have you tried listening to some guided meditation ? that can help a lot. I do know how you feel though the waiting is torture and its the fear of the unknown .

Please update when you get your biopsy result .

Sending love and just try and enjoy your little miracle baby boy xx

  • Hi!! Thankyou so much for your reply!
I am so glad you are recovering now!! So they did say if this biopsy doesnt show much they will do a Hysteroscopy! I didnt find this out till i recieved a copy of what was sent to GP! Yes so went to gp im currently taking medication for sickness have been a couple of months but the second I miss one I wm very sick! It properly is anxiety at this point but the docs just fobbed me off really with them and said that my refural would sort it out? The hospital said the headaches could be due to hormone imbalance sp have been given pill to help see if I get one this month! I have no but I deffos think im going to now! Because these past 2 weeks have been awful! Thankyou so so much for your reply! Will keep you updated as they are suppose to be calling me today xx

  • You're welcome , I hope you feel better soon and yes it can be homonal imbalance that cause the headaches .

I hope all goes well and take care xx

  • hi welly Bob  I'm due hysteroscopy  on Saturday  I'm petrified  11 mm thick my Ling of womb I'm 69 so dr out on my notes suspected  endrometial  cancer

  • Hello and thank you for your post,

I hope the hysteroscopy goes well, you may need to have a biopsy of the lining of your womb and the results will say what is causing your lining to be thicker.  In most cases it is not caused by cancer but can be caused by abnormal cells that could over time develop into cancer.  Also in many cases there is no abnormality seen. We have some information on our website about having one done, you can see it here

I realise that this could be a difficult time for so I hope you are able to get some support.

  • Hi MC1,

Its very scary for sure , but you will be okay, everyone is wonderful during this process. It doesn't have to be endometrial cancer , most of the time it isn't .

Nurse Caroline has replied to you, she is more knowledgeable than I am . I hope it goes well .

Please let us know , take care x
