Please try not to worry, too much.  Don't read too much into your GP now knowing about what is happening, GP's should always be informed about what is happening (medically) to their patients.  

Inflammation in the cervix can happen for many reasons and is usually not connected to a cancer. However,  I'm afraid that you will have to wait for the results of the biopsy to know if the level of abnormality has changed and then if you need to have treatment to remove these cells. Waiting can be difficult. 

I think it is quite normal to be a bit worried when a cervical screening result comes back abnormal but please remember that most people will find out that they don't have cancer.  It might help to read more about having abnormal cervical screening results, please click here   to see it on our webste.
