  • Hi Nosh,

I'm sorry to hear you are worried. The good thing is that you made a step towards finding out what could it be. I have been there, maybe try speaking to a different GP, it's your right to receive care, especially if you have symptoms that are unusual for you.If this doesn't happen then if you are in position to do it privately that for your peace of mind I think it is good idea.

All the best and let us know how you are getting on

  • Hello and thank you for your post.

I am sorry to hear about the worry you have about your bowel symptoms. I am afraid that no one here can tell you what, if anything, is the matter. However, because you are concerned you did the right thing in getting a GP appointment.  It sounds like you have had or are waiting to have a ultrasound scan and some bloods done, so it might be best to wait for these to be done and for the results before deciding if you should pay to see a private doctor.

Anxiety can play havoc on your bowels so it is possible that it could be causing bowel symptoms or making them worse. I am afraid that no one can tell you what is the matter based upon the diameter of your poo.

If after getting the results of the scan and blood you still feel worried then do talk this over with your GP and you may also want to discuss a referral to a private doctor.  However, even a private doctor will only send someone to have a colonoscopy if there is a clinical need to do it.

I realise that your depression may be made worse by the worry and anxiety you have so you may also feel it helpful to read some information about this on the NHS website and what can be done to help, you can see it here

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
