Scared of Colposcopy after CIN2 Moderate and HIV Positive

Hi all,

I am looking for anyone who has had LLETZ treatment to give me some reassurance please.

My recent smear test has come back showing CIN2 Moderate High Grade, and HPV Positive.

After doing some research, I have seen that most CIN 2 Moderate is treated at your Colposcopy with LLETZ, now I have got myself so worked up about my appointment next Thursday. 
 

I'm not so much scared about the procedure itself, more about the numbing injection and feeling a really sharp pain in my cervix.

 

To give some background, I have not felt my past smears apart from a slight stinging sensation when inserting the speculum which I kind of expected. I felt no brushing of my cervix at all. 
 

Nothing is going to stop me going, or having the treatment done if I need it, as I know it is what I just need to do for the best. I would really appreciate any reassurance of anyone who has had this done, as I did the stupid thing of hearing peoples horror stories and I felt sick after reading them.

I am 30 years old and my first smear was fine, I left my 2nd one 2 years late and the above was the outcome (I know, I wish I'd have gone earlier, but I had so much life issues going on at the time)

    I'm sorry to hear you are worrying about this. It can be so hard when you're waiting for an appointment, sometimes it is the only thing we are able to think about.  Some people find keeping themselves busy can be helpful.  

    You said you had done some research on your situation, but do try and wait until you get to your appointment to find out the treatment you will be offered.  They will talk you through what will happen and offer you lots of information.

    You can read more about the Lletz procedure here.  You would usually have a local anaesthetic for a LLETZ procedure. But if it is something that is really causing you lots of anxiety, you can choose to have it done under general anaesthetic, where you are asleep. If this is something you would like to consider, you can talk to your colposcopist about the risks and benefits before your appointment.

    Hi

    I am on this site for another reason but had 2 LETZ many years ago. Honestly its not as bad as the colposcopy. The tiny scratch when they inject is hardly felt and yhen you will hear whst sounds like a quiet vacum cleaner then its over.

    I still kept getting positive cells so started to research.

    I read somewhere to eat ftom the sea and not the land. I ate wild fish, kelp, seaweed and rice. It did the job and I got rid of the virus. The LETZ got rid of the bad cells and i truely believe that diet goy rid of the virus.

    Thank you for taking the time to reply to me, it's always good to know more people who have had the LLETZ and found it not painful. That's also interesting about the sea diet! x

    i hope that your procedure went ok yesterday.  i just wanted to say that i had this procedure done over 30 years ago now.  it wasnt pleasant thats for sure, however it obviously worked as i have never had an abnormal smear since then.  you never quite get over the fear that its back, when you are waiting for smear results, but you learn to live with it. (i was cin 3 when the procedure was carried out).
