Scared about testicular cancer

Around 3 weeks ago I noticed a pain in my groin just above my right testicle when I would lift or do certain movements, it went away and came back a little worse so I went to the Dr, he had a feel around but didn't really say much just booked me for a ultrasound in a months time and sent me on me way.
a week later, my health anxiety and paranoia was so bad I went to see a different Dr, again he had a feel around and said that I had Epididymitis and prescribed me oxycycline for a week and said that should get rid of it.
a week later and the pain is gone, I can move normal again and I think the antibiotics have worked, however my left testicle seems larger than usual.
it has always been larger and hung lower than my right one but at the moment it seems quite bigger than usual and feels heavier.
There isn't any pain and at night it seems to swell back down to normal while I'm lying down.
would both of the Drs have noticed any abnormal growth when they checked me?
bare In mind I initially went to the Drs with pain in the right testicle, not the left. Am I just hyper aware because of the Epididymitis or should i be worried? I suffer massively with my mental health and at the minute I haven't been eating properly because of this.
I'm going on holiday in 4 days time and just want to be able to enjoy myself without the worry :(

  • Hello and thank you for your post,

I am sorry to hear about the pain and worry you have in your groin and testicles. You did the right thing in getting checked out by your GP.  You say you are due to have an ultrasound scan in a month's time,  so I wonder if that is coming up soon.

I am afraid that we cannot tell you what is the matter but it does seem that the doctors you saw are not concerned about cancer.  However because this bigger testcicle is worrying you, you will need to talk with your GP about this. I realise that this might be inconvenient with a holiday coming up but I'm afraid we cannot tell if there is anything the matter.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
