Hello,
I would like to ask if you can provide any information on liquid biopsies being performed. I am aware that this is not available as standard on the NHS. I asked my oncologist and was told that no trials were running.
I have made contact with one company that carries out liquid biopsy tests. They have said that it has to be prescribed by an oncologist, which can be my own oncologist, or they can arrange it (at a cost to me). I am aware that the liquid biopsy needs to be paid for by me and I am happy with doing that and the cost involved.
If I ask my oncologist to refer me, is this something they are likely to agree to? Is thing something that you are aware that patients do in the UK?
The reason I want a liquid biopsy test is that I will not be offered any screening beyond yearly mammograms and I do not think this is sufficient given my high-recurrence risk diagnosis.
Thank you in advance for your help
