CIN2 and HPV positive

Hi, i have recently had 2 bopsys taken from my Cervix and was told i need to wait 6 weeks for my results. Having gone to my doctor recently they informed me the results have come back as CIN2 and nothing to worry about but i need to wait to receive my letter from the Hospital.

I called the hospital today to explain i have been informed by my doctor what the results are and was asking about my treatment plan. They advised there is a meeting being held within the next week with the consultants for a second opinion and wondering why this might be? Again was informed its nothing to worry about but it making me feel like something else could be wrong?

  • Hi Vicky_257 and thanks for posting.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having a worrying time at the moment.

There is some more information here about the different cervical cell changes and what they mean. CIN2 will usually either be monitored or treated.  You will be invited for a colposcopy, where your cervix will be looked at more closely.  There is more about colposcopy here.

The important thing to remember is that cervical screening is not a test for cancer, it is to prevent cancer.

It sounds like you could be talking about a multi-disciplinary team meeting.  This takes place to decide on the recommended treatment for a person, and is made up of a group of professionals such as consultants and specialist nurses.  This group is there to share information and make sure the person gets the best care.

It can be really difficult when we are waiting for results and we can let our minds go into overdrive.  Some people find it helps to keep busy.  If you are still concerned about what is happening you could give the hospital a ring again to ask how long you will be waiting, which may help put your mind at rest.

    I hope this is useful.

You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care

    Rachel
