Lymph nodes come up and down all the time, as they form part of your normal healthy immune system, and respond to any bacteria and viruses. They can take months to settle back down again. 

In some people, certain lymph nodes are enlarged and remain so long term, and this is normal for them.

If you can, try not to poke around the area, as you will cause unnecessary swelling. 

If you are worrying, then go back and see your GP again, who will hopefully reassure you, as this forum can't comment on someone's symptoms.
