Feel a lump on cervix with my finger

In 24 and was checking my cervix as I've come off the pill recently and wanted to see what was going on up there but I felt a little lump. It feels smaller than a pea but bigger than a pin cushion needle tip. It feels solid and is around the opening of the cervix.

I've not had strange bleeding but I do have thick discharge right now which iam not too sure about. Do you have any advice? Could it be a cyst? I'm a bit embarassed to ask a doctor but my granny had cervical cancer in her early 40s.

To my knowledge I had both cervical cancer jabs in year 8 and 9

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

I can understand that finding a lump however small can cause a lot of worry. We can't diagnose you but it may well be something called a Bartholin cyst which are fairly common  small fluid filled cysts that sit just inside the vagina.

I would make an appointment to see a GP and they will hopefully  help  put your mind at rest. GP's  are used to being asked about all sorts of lumps found in intimate places and I am sure will put you at ease. You could always ask to see a female doctor if one was available.

The NHS has some information about these particular cysts which you can see here

    I hope this helps.

    all the Best,

    Catherine
