Advice, please, on possible lung cancer symptoms

Hello,

I don't know if i should see a doctor- I am worried that i might have lung cancer as my throat is swollen, my shoulder hurts,

and has been painful for a while, and i am feeling , generally, unwell. Does anyone have any advice please?

  • Hello, I thought I would reply as my husband had lung cancer, no symptoms at all apart from a cough.  So try not too worry too much about a sore throat whuch can make you feel unwell and run down and shoulders can hurt for all sorts of reasons.  If you're really worried call your GP but at the moment sore throats are usually recommended to see a pharmacist.  Speak to your local chemist and see if they can help they usually are very helpful.  Hope this helps you to be less worried over the weekend.  Carol x

  • To Carol,

Thank you very much for your reply. I am very sorry about your husband . Thank you very much for your

reply and I will, certainly, see a pharmacist for some advice. Thank you for taking the time to answer my

    post. Best wishesx

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

There maybe many explanations that may be the cause of your symptoms but without a GP's assessment no one can tell you any more.

You may find that you have an infection that is taking a while to clear but it is important that you get checked out to rule anything serious out. Your doctor may suggest a range of blood tests which can help assess your general health and then if they do have concerns about your chest they may suggest an x-ray.

You may find it helpful to look at the information  about getting the most out of your appointment written by the patient's association here

I do hope that you know more about your situation soon and that your symptoms improve.

    All the Best,

    Catherine

  • To Catherine,
