Itchy lump on labia near clitoral hood

I have been having trouble with an itchy lump on my labia right next to the clitoris. There is also two other lumps  one where the bartholomews gland is and another tiny dot near the itchy lump. Ive had three examinations in the past nine months. The most recent itchy lump is the same colour as the rest of the skin. Ive had trimovate daktacort and canister prescribed. Im getting really worried now. Im 52 and menopausal and wondered if it this is related ? Any advice please!!

  • Hello and thank you for your post on Cancer Chat.

I am very sorry to hear about these itchy lumps and I can appreciate that they are difficult to live with.

I'm afraid that as nurses we cannot give you a clinical diagnosis but it looks like your GP or a specialist doctor (this could be a gynaecologist ) have looked at these and doesn't think they are to do with cancer.  All we can advise you to do is to go back and let the doctor that prescribed the treatment (you tell us about) know if it is not working. Also, you may wish to ask if you can be referred to a gynaecologist (if you have not already been referred).

It is possible to have a dry and itchy vaginal area when menopausal, but I'm not sure if this can explain your current symptoms.

I hope you are able to get back and discuss this with your doctor. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
