hematology and CT results

Hello,

I had bloods done on Wednesday and a CT scan Friday which were ordered by the hematologist. The GP has rang today and asked me to go in on Friday to discuss results. Would this be for both or just bloods? I wandered if the CT results would be sent from the hemotologist and not the GP?

  • You would think the heamotologist would be the one you see for ct scan results but I'm not sure

  • Hi Yd21 and thanks for posting.

It sounds like you are having a worrying time at the moment.

I'm afraid I can't tell you whether the appointment will be to discuss both the results. The CT scan report would usually be sent to the doctor who has ordered the test, in this case you said the haematologist ordered it for you.

Sometimes a report will also be sent to your GP.  It may be that they will be discussing both blood results and CT results with you if they are in charge of your care.

It can be confusing when you are having tests carried out as there are often lots of health professionals involved.  Waiting for results can be nerve wracking and some people find it is all they can think about. It can be useful to try and keep busy until you see your GP on Friday, carrying on with the things you would normally be doing.

I hope this is helpful, and that you get all the information on Friday.

If you want to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline, please give us a call on Freephone 0808 800 4040.  The lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
