I am sorry to hear about your mother in laws situation, this must be a difficult time for all the family.

I'm afraid as we are not directly involved in any patients care on here it can be tricky to work out what may be going on and what may or may not happen next.

We have information about the stages of cervical cancer here. As you say if the cancer has definitely spread to the liver or another organ it is usually stage 4 disease, but this is something to get checked out directly by the team involved in her care.

Patients often get assigned a specialist nurse so if your mother in law has one of these they are worth contacting to ask more questions about the stage and treatment plan, if not then ask to speak to one of the doctors involved.
