  • Hello and thanks for your post

I imagine you have been referred to the haematologist because of the symptoms you are experiencing.

When you go to the clinic the haematologist or one of the team will examine your lymph nodes. Depending on their assessment they may order further tests and ask to see you again when the results are available.

It may take a couple of weeks to get other tests organised. I don't think that it is common to get everything sorted in one visit. If they suggest a biopsy, it can take a couple of weeks to get the results. You might find that the haematologist is able to give you an opinion of what they think is the matter on the day, and there may be no need for further tests.

I can appreciate until you know more this can be a worry and especially for someone with health anxiety. The NHS website Every Mind Matters  has information on coping with anxiety and have some useful tips for getting by. I’m not sure if you are getting support to help manage your anxiety . Do speak to your doctor about this when you get the chance.

I hope you know more about your situation soon. Give us a ring if you would like to talk things over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
