Waiting 8-10 weeks for ct scan results

I have been told that I have to wait 8-10 weeks for my ct scan results, I'm so sick with worry , I've had cancer before 8 years ago, I've rang my gp and was told that I'm classed as urgent , but it's still a 8-10 week wait !. I've already had a ultrasound scan which found shadows on my liver and had blood tests, my gp is also really concerned. I'm worried that I really might not have the time to wait, I've convinced myself that the cancer has come back and don't know how I'm going to get though the next 8 weeks.

  • Hi,

  • Hello Lacey123 and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to learn that you are waiting for results and can understand how stressful it is to cope with the uncertainty this involves.

If you haven't already, it may be worth contacting the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) at the hospital where you had the CT scan. You can find them and read about PALS at this link to the NHS website.  I don't know if the PALS will be able to expedite the results, but they may be able to tell you more and you may want to raise a concern about having to wait.

It sounds as if you have been in touch with your GP surgery, I am not sure if you have been able talk things over with the GP, perhaps this would be an idea if you can.

I can understand that this is a really difficult time and hope you have some support.

Please give us a call if you want to talk, our number is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and we are around weekdays from 9-5.

    Best wishes,

    Julia
