Hello
I'll send you a friend request and give you a social media place to visit.
Hello and thanks for your post,
As we say in our information on bile duct surgery which you can see here;
'Surgery for bile duct cancer aims to remove the cancer and some healthy tissue around the tumour. It gives the best chance of curing someone with bile duct cancer. Bile duct cancer is also called cholangiocarcinoma.'
We do have survival statistics on our website for bile duct cancer but the best people to answer the questions about your husband are his own doctors. Have a look at our statistics here.
The doctors will be able to tell you more based on his situation and his general health.
I hope this helps.
I do hope that your husband is recovering well after surgery in July.
If either you or your husband want to ring and chat through any of this or anything else then do give us a ring.
Our number is freephone 0808 800 4040 and we are here Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
All the Best,
Catherine
Thank you for your reply. I would also like to know, how can we see his blood test, scans results. He had blood test before the start of every cycle.
Hello and thanks for getting back to us again,
Before each cycle of treatment as you have rightly said your husband will have had a set of blood tests.
He will probably be assessed by either an oncologist or chemotherapy nurse. Before he is given his next course of treatment the doctor or nurse looking after him will review how he is getting on with his treatment, any side effects and his blood tests to say whether your husband will be able to have the next course.
They will be able to give the results to him there and then. If he has had a recent scan do ask his doctors for the results then. They may also be able to give you a copy of the scan. You probably would not be able to access the results of the scan online as the doctors usually want to discuss it with the patient.
I hope this helps. Do ring if you want to chat this through. Our number is 0808 800 4040 and we are here Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
All the Best,
Catherine
