Coming home after bladder removal

From Ronnie

  • Hello Ronnie and Sylvie and thanks for updating us on how you are both doing

It seems like things are all moving in the right direction, which is good news and hopefully Ronnie you will be home soon.

As others have said on the forum, the doctors and nurses won't discharge you Ronnie until you are ready to go home and they think it is safe for you to do so.

I hope Sylvie can speak to some of the hospital team today so you can ask some questions and share any concerns either of you may have.

I'm sure they will make sure you have any extra support you need but unfortunately if a follow up appointment is needed ( which is usually the case after surgery) this will need to be at the hospital. However Ronnie should be feeling much stronger by then.

Have a good day and update us when you can.

    All the best

    Naomi

  • Thank you there saying 2 week for followup after he gets home

    Regards Sylvia

  • Hello from Sylvia. Ronnie is anemic and has to take iron tabs. He has had training with changing his stoma bag and i was there to watch. He is still very week The stoma cancer nurse is coming again to day for more training but all in all looking good.

    Regards Sylvia

  • Hi Sylvia

I was prescribed iron tablets too, and it's a common thing to happen. He will still be very weak of course but it's good the nurse has been giving him training with changing. My nurses in hospital were of no use and hardly ever came to see me, so Ronnie is obviously having a better experience than I did and I had 2 stomas to cope with! Take care, and give Ronnie my best when you see him.

  • Hi from Sylvia good news Ronnie is coming home tomorrow. they are so pleased with him. Stoma nurse returning tomorrow to check on him and watch Ronnie change his bag. Ronnie has had first class treatment at his hospital in Leeds. I am taking the nurses some chocolates today as a thank you i will keep intouch with his progress

    Regards from Sylvia

  • Hi Sylvia

That's excellent news indeed. He's done really well and had great care in his hospital. I'm sure you'll be so glad to get him home with you again. Yes, please let me know how he's getting on when he's out of hospital.

  • Feel sad today Ronnie not coming home they need to monitor the bleeding coming from his penis.

They didn't say for how long.but will let you know

    Regards Sylvia

  • I'm sorry to hear that Sylvia, but he is in the best place for now to deal with any issues, and it's only been a week since his surgery. Let's hope they get it sorted out soon for him and you get him home again.
