I am sorry to hear about your recent surgery and hope your recovery is going well so far.

As good as it is to take good care of yourself and to adopt a healthy lifestyle after any operation try and take things easy and one step at a time.

Your body is in a process of healing itself and it will take a while for the bowel to settle down and return to some sense of normality so try and be patient with yourself.

Most patients will notice some change to their bowels after surgery and there is information and advice about the types of food to eat at this time here while the digestive system is adjusting itself.

Usually a healthy and balanced diet should include all the vitamins, minerals and nutrients a person needs without the need for supplements.

However some people do like to explore supplements including things such as pre or pro biotics and there does seem to be some evidence of benefit for bowel cancer patients but ideally these should be discussed with your doctor first, just to make sure they are safe to take before doing so.
