Scan results

Hi Everyone, so I have been having some gyne problems and had my smear around 4 weeks ago when doing my swear the nurse seen a polyp. The nurse advised if my smear results where clear then the GP would refer me to gyne to get the polpy removed. So fast forward 2 weeks my GP refers me to gyne, I have my appointment to have the polyp removed and sent for tests then a week later I get an appointment in the post for an ultrasound scan.

I have been for my ultrasound scan today at 11.20 they advised me that if I dont hear nothing from my GP by next Friday then I have to call my GP for the Results. So thought nothing of it then at 5.15 tonight my GP surgery send a online notification that my scan results are back and I have to call Monday first thing for an emergency appointment.

Am I being dramatic or is this something to worry about I have never heard of anyone getting ultrasound results back in less than 6 hours.

  • Hi Loza16061216, I just wanted to respond to you as I am going through similar and wanted to share my experience.

Like you I have been having a few issues which I went to GP to discuss 2 weeks ago. My symptoms were pain in lower abdomen, bladder urgency, bowel changes, weight loss and chronic fatigue. Since then I have had a smear, bloods (incl. CA-125) a stool sample, and pelvic Ultrasound (internal & external)  I received a letter to make follow up appt with my GP to discuss blood results and have a GP appointment in a few days.

Similar to you I had my ultrasound just today at the hospital and only a few hours later I received a missed call from my GP surgery.  I called back and spoke with receptionist who wasn't able to confirm the reason for the surgery calling but did say if this was urgent the GP would keep trying to reach me. Since its now Friday evening I won't hear anything over the weekend which is a little frustrating.

Like you I have convinced myself that missed call can't possibly be in relation to the U/S as it was only done today. Sonographer didn't discuss anything with me at the appt but she took some time to complete the exam. This was supposed to be transabdominal however part way through she asked permission to conduct internal scan too.

It's a worry isn't it. Keeping fingers crossed for you and hope you get some answers soon. Keep us posted

  • Thank you for replying. This is exactly what happened to me half way through the sonographer offered me an internal and then advised my coil is in the right place but slightly slanted however in the online notification from my GP the asked me to call first thing Monday for an emergency appointment to discuss my scan results but also advised me about my coil but said to contact the sexual health clinic to get it removed.

So becaused they advised me to contact the sexual health clinic am thinking well they cant want me to have an appointment about my coil so what is it that they want to discuss it is very frustrating.

  • Hello there and thanks for posting

I am sorry for the delay but the nurses don't work over the weekend so I hope the comments you had from another user were helpful.

By now you may have heard from your GP and know more about what is going on and what needs to happen next.

I appreciate this must be an anxious time and for things to be moving so quickly must be ringing alarm bells but try and sit tight until you know more.

Please get back in touch if you need to or have more questions.

I really do hope everything is okay for you.

    Take care

    Naomi
