  • Hello,

Firstly I'm not a nurse, I'm just currently waiting for a response from my first post and read this and thought id offer some support.

I'm sorry to hear you've about your health struggles over the last few years and your car crash, I completely understand why now you are now feeling nervous that your having bad luck and something more will be wrong. It's a good start that all your previous smears have been fine and you've had no symptoms, although scary it could be some peace of mind to get your last smear done and fingers crossed that your luck can now change.

Take care and I hope all goes well.

  • Hello lut123 and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to learn that you have had a couple of bad years health wise. I think episodes like this remind us that good health can't be taken for granted which is a scary thought that can make anyone of us worry a bit more about everyday things.

Bear in mind that cervical screening is really all about prevention, the idea is to pick up abnormal cells and when needed treat them to prevent cancer from developing in the future. So if your results were to show some abnormal cells it would mean something could be done. But your smear results may well be ok - as Katrina says it is a good start that so far they have been alright.

Worry and anxiety can get the better of us sometimes. We often suggest taking a look at the NHS Every Mind Matters website for tips on how to cope . See what you think.

If you want to talk anything over please do give us a call on Freephone 0808 800 4040, we are here weekdays 9-5.

    Best wishes,
