Cervical polyps

Hi guys,

back in July I had two cervical polyps removed (they had been causing me some mid cycle bleeding around ovulation) and treatment of cervical erosion. All went well - erosion fixed (I've also had clear smears), polyps benign and mid cycle bleeding stopped, that is, until today. I'm on day 14 of my cycle and noticed some quite bloody discharge when I wiped which has caused me to worry.

Has anyone experienced this before? Also, during the polyp removal would they have checked for anything sinister in say the vagina, uterus etc or would they have looked purely at the cervex? I should probably say that I was in hospital (referred by GP) as an out patient. I'm also 42.

I do plan on phoning my GP tomorrow but I have been trying to phone them now for two weeks regarding feeling extremely depressed and had no luck getting through.

Many thanks x

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

Bloody discharge can be due to all sorts of conditions, hormone level changes, infection, erosion, polyps etc. Most gynaecological cancers are not that likely in someone of your age. You have had treatment for erosion, and clear smears, so anything untoward would very likely have been picked up.

You can sometimes get cervical erosion back again, and then treatment is repeated. Let your GP know about it, and see what they have to say.

    Wishing you the best,

    Vanda
