There’s currently no firm medical evidence to suggest that having the covid vaccine will raise your CA125 level. But as the vaccines are still relatively new, it may be that over time new information comes to light. So, it isn't possible to speculate either way at this point.

Your scan will provide your doctor with useful information first and foremost, and they will take it from there. They will repeat blood tests if they think this is necessary.

Did you mean your ca125 was raised after having covid or or after having covid vaccine ??

Hi, 

I tested positive for covid 14th September and I had the anti viral infusion a couple of days later, 2 weeks after that I had my CA125 test and it came back as 78, however I had another test done on Thursday, I got the results yesterday and it had gone up again to 105.

I guess I will just need to wait until scan results on Monday! 
I've been so worried, but the hospital have really messed me about.

I was told that there was to be an MDT meeting last Monday, and I was to attend the hospital on Thursday for my results, when I got there they said the scan hadn't been reported on, so I have to wait yet again and come back on Monday! I've been in such a state that I was feeling sick and my tummy was in so much pain.

I ended up going to my GP and he's put me on a small dose of diazepam to calm me down, I think I'm clutching at straws with the Covid being to blame for the rise in my CA125, I just can't face the thought of 8 more chemos and a major surgery which almost killed me, and  year off work which will hit our finances when we are already struggling.

It sounds like you're going through a really awful time 

and I honestly feel for you ,firstly it appears that having covid infection can elevate ca125 test i've just read it so that's possibly why its gone up ,after waiting for appointments and results then being told its delayed is not what anyone wants to hear when they are already paniced about raised ca125 tests but there's not a lot we can do except wait ,its good your GP recognised you needed something to get you through the weekend I hope it helps ,as you'll know from reading posts on here the worst thing for everyone is the waiting and wondering and going through every senario in our heads its terrible but we're only human and this is what we do ,we forget that worrying will never change anything it just takes away our peace for that time but I fully understand it ,Monday will soon be here I hope you get the answers you want ,you are in the best hands whatever happens and you will get through whatever it takes to get your health back ,try to relax a bit it will help the weekend go quicker ,best wishes for Monday x

Oh my goodness I can hardly take in what you have just said ,its no wonder you feel the way you do I didn't realise all of this you poor thing I really feel for you ,especially being stuck in hospital being told that and then just being left on your own is heartbreaking to hear ,all I can say now is that you are in a much better situation than you were 2 years ago despite the ups and downs and continuing worry about a higher ca125 ,but I found that fact that covid can affect ca125 on a site called ScienceDirect ,I didn't read it all just the highlights ,I hope you find some rest for your mind over the weekend and that Monday brings some relief after your appointment ,sending you my best thoughts and wishes ,keep in touch whatever the outcome xxxx

I have looked to see if there is any research or evidence that shows that having covid infection can increase the CA125  level. From what I have seen in these studies it can be sometimes because of covid. This is because covid is an infection and infections cause inflammation. However, these studies have also shown that the CA125 level can also rise because of cancer. 

I think it is understandable that your specialist team want to scan you and to see if it has anything to do with your cancer coming back.  So I am afraid that until you have had your appointment to discuss the results will you know what is the reason for your CA125 level rising.

Waiting for the results of tests and investigations can be difficult to cope with so it's good to know that you have discussed this with your GP. I also hope you have support for family and friends too.

i just wanted to let you know that I got my results yesterday and it was my worst fear, I have cancer again, it's in the upper abdomen, I'm not sure if it's a local reoccurrence or if it's a secondary? The doctor who called me with my results didn't understand when I asked him if it was a secondary? 
anyway I have an appointment on Thursday and they are looking at starting chemo in two weeks time. The cancer nurse said that everything is looking good because it hasn't spread, there's nothing on my organs except a leision on my liver? Not sure what that means?

im not looking forward to the chemo as it did so much damage last time, I don't feel that I've fullly recovered as it's just been 18months since the last one. Xx

I am so very sad to hear that ,you will feel very scared and defeated at this moment in time but at least its been caught and will be treated which is far better than not knowing and it spreading further ,hopefully you'll find out much more on Thursday so that you know what to expect ,if you're starting treatment in 2 weeks it will be a busy time putting all the things in place that you're going to need for however long chemo lasts ,I know its certainly not great news but I always think it could be much worse when you read about some poor people its heart breaking ,I'm hoping that maybe this time chemo might not be so bad because you'll remember a few things that were helpful and some that wern't ,my friend on F/B has colon cancer since 2019 that spread to her liver because she refused chemo so they put her on Immune boosting therapy and she's doing really well ,she changed her diet listens to this therapy music (which she swears by) and lots of other things she does ,each to their own that's what I say ,anyway thanks very much for letting me know, I was thinking about you all day yesterday I hope on Thursday they can make you feel better I'm sure with each passing day as you prepare for your treatment that you'll be relieved that its not going unnoticed and once treatment starts it will be stopped in its tracks ,let us know how you get on on Thursday I'll look out for you on here ,I'll be praying for you too ,best wishes and thoughts as you get yourself prepared to tackle this again ,you can do it you've done it before ,this time they will hopefully zap it completely so you can feel healthy again ,Best Wishes ,Jenny xxx
