  • Yes she had a cancer bowel nurse from mac millan she's seen her abd she examine her and sorted tests etc but she hasn't got cancer for sure  Hope to hear good news Thursday  from you  xxx

  • Hi, I had the dreaded news last week I have thryoid cancer, I knew i had something serious but to be told and confirmed it's so different, not sure if I'm still in shock or disbelief but I feel lost , I have been referred to  hospital and had app yesterday which I saw the top consultant and had bloods done a camera down my throat again and another biopsy but this 1 was the core biopsy, I have another app next Friday and before that I'm down to get app for mri scan and pets scan, they want to operate ASAP but talking about chemo or radioactive before operation to shrink the tumour, my head is full of loads of stuf and info but now seems to b moving 10 times faster. I'm not allowed to play footie incase I get knocked in my neck it could choke me, they have found small nodules on my lung but that can b anything so they gonna test them aswell

  • I'm so sorry about the news you have received although I have read that thyroid cancer is very treatable  I am always here on this site if you feel like wanting to chat  or the private messages  still keep in touch please  xx

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis and appreciate what an anxious time this must be for you.

I hope you have people around you to support you at this time but also try and take things one step at a time and be led by your doctor as to what needs to happen next.

It sounds like the doctor is being very thorough in gathering all the information about your cancer so they can plan the best course of treatment for you.

Do ask the doctor any questions you have along the way so you are kept in the loop and understand clearly everything that is going on.

You are welcome to get back to the nurses anytime if you like but if you would like to call us on the helpline instead you can do that as well. Our number is 0808 800 4040 and we're here weekdays 9-5.

    Wishing you all the best

    Naomi

  • Hi thank u, if I'm honest I'm lost in everything, I have just been given app for tomoro to have a pet scan and see the consultant again on Friday, I'm a personal person so I find it hard to talk about anything I just want to hide away and hibinate

  • Hello and thanks for getting back in touch.

I know this is a difficult time for you so do talk with the key nurse (you mentioned her in earlier posts) about what is happening so you can be supported. Getting these scans done will help your specialist doctor and team plan your treatment. It sounds like they are being very efficient in wanting to get these done now, which is good.

    Take care,

    Caroline

  • Thank you for your reply, the hos are being great with everything

  • Hi sorry to hear that you are in the first stages of treatment, do contact the nurse specialist as they are up to date with the current treatment and can guide you through. It's nice to feel you support from the team.
I hope you have an idea about the treatment plan on Friday. Once the results are all at hand they will plan the next step.

Although I had a gynaecology oncology surgeon she was great and spent hours removing the adhesions around my overies, other surgeons would have left them.

Take care. do take someone with you to clinic as they can listen with you to the plan, making a list helps you to remember everything you need to ask like time span, and expected dates of surgery.
    Susie
