Ct scan and appointment after

Hi I would like to ask a question please. I have an appointment today for a ct scan, this is after a chest X-ray no one has said why I've had to have the ct I'm presuming they seen something on the X-ray, apt is 2.20pm for the scan then I have an appointment in thoracic medicine at 4pm? Would this be to discuss the results? I thought I would have to wait for results in the post? My ct scan says  thorax with abdomen and contrast. I'm very realistic of what this could be but I just like to know what I could be dealing with when I go to the appointment at 4pm. If you've got this far, Thankyou so much for taking the time to read my message! Take care :)

  • Hello and thanks for your post

I'm afraid because I'm not involved in your clinical care I can't be certain why you are having a CT scan. But like you said, it's probably because they have seen something on the xray that they are unsure about so they want to check it out. This doesn't mean that something is definitely wrong, but they need to check it out just to be sure.

CT scan results are usually sent to your doctor within a couple of weeks or so. I'm afraid I can't be sure if you will know anymore about your scan results when you go to your appointment today. You could try ringing them to see if this is the case.

I hope you know more soon. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything through. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
