Waiting for skin results and now had a covid vaccine invite

I'm currently waiting on derma pathology results for a mole that has been growing over 18 months.

i stupidly didn't notice it until I looked back on pictures.

I've been waiting 7 weeks for results and I know it's going to come back as stage 4 melanoma.

This was confirmed by skin vision as being high risk.

Today, I've  had a text to book a booster for covid as it says I'm more at risk.

my GP still hasn't had the results back

Having received the text for the covid booster, does that mean I do have cancer and the message has just not got back to my GP?

im 33 so and currently not eligible for a booster and wasn't called forward for a vaccine early before the biopsy.

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear that you are waiting for results.

I don't think that you can read too much in to why you were offered the covid vaccination at your age but it may be because you are undergoing investigations for a possible skin cancer.

Try not to think the worse about the mole on your body until you know more.

I am sure that as soon as the doctor is aware of your results that they will be in touch.

If at any stage you want to ring and chat with one of the helpline nurses then you are very welcome to do so. We are here Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and our number is Freephone 0808 800 4040.

All the very best and I hope that you hear more soon,

    Catherine

  • Hi folks.

I just wanted to give an update on this.

after eleven agonising weeks I have had the histology back.

I had a text message from my doctor to say the mole is 'totally benign' their exact words.

I can't tell you how much this site has been a comfort to me during the wait for the results.

thank you everyone who writes their stories on here as it's truly helped.

thank you and I wish everyone well.
