Biopsy Results

So feeling very nervous about these, as I've been backward and forward to breast clinic for past 4 years, I've had a lumpectomy at start of lockdown, now going through another lot of lumps and tests for these, so far had suction biopsy, 2 normal biopsy and 2 clips put in this year, the consultant isn't very chatty but I've found the nurses are worth there weight in gold. I had an MRI which didn't go well as had a panic attack in all I feel so far luck as been on my side but I don't know how long that will continue.

I want to ask some questions but just don't know where to start, without falling apart any suggestions.

Thankyou in advance.

  • Hello there and thanks for posting on here

I am sorry to hear you have been under the breast unit for a few years now having various tests and treatment for breast lumps. This has understandably been an anxious time for you and I can appreciate your concerns about what may ( or may not) happen in the future.

Do remember that all of us ( even when we don't have health concerns or symptoms or undergoing tests) live with a certain amount of uncertainty and it is a part of life, I hope you don't mind me saying. We all need to find ways of managing this and trying not to dwell on things or over think things too much whilst getting on with everyday life as best we can.

Hopefully you will get some answers soon about what these lumps may be and what needs to happen next but if not do write a list of questions to take to the consultant the next time you see them.

Questions such as what have the test results shown so far? what do you think the problem may be? do you think I am at higher risk of a cancer in the future if not now? what needs to happen next?.

Whilst some doctors are easier to talk with than others they are all human and will want you to feel heard and try and answer you as best they can, often with the information they have about you.

Glad to hear the breast care nurses have been helpful so do keep talking to them as well about how all of this is making you feel. They may also have some suggestions to help you through this time.

Findings ways to keep yourself busy and your mind on other things whilst waiting can also be helpful.

Do get back in touch if you need to or you are welcome to call the nurse helpline on 0808 800 4040 Mon-Fri 9-5 if you like.

I do wish you all the best

    Naomi
