Dent underarm

Hi all just this am while shaving under my arm I seen quite a large dent right in my left armpit..   Only on left side and no lumps or bumps anywhere near it       I obviously panicked and straight on google lol

I phoned my gp who examined me straight away but is happy to watch and wait as no lumps near By.     Has any one experienced this and it went on to develop bumps?   Or anybody had anything similar and have an explanation pls

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this.

  • Hello Sonya, and thank you for posting.

I'm afraid I don't know what has caused the dent in your armpit, or whether this means there is anything the matter.  Anyone who notices any persistent changes in their body that concerns them are best off speaking to their GP which you have done. They have assessed you and decided that for the moment watch and waiting is the best plan. If you notice any future changes that concern you do go back to the doctor.

Unfortunately any symptom searched on the internet will mention cancer, but many different things can go on in the body that aren't necessarily anything sinister.

Take care Sonya, and do remember that anyone who comes forward with their experiences of this are talking about their own individual situation.

    Sarah.

  • Hi Sonya I know it's been over 2 years since your post but I wondered if you ever found out about the reason from for the dent. I have exactly the same and am worried sick. Best wishes Tracey

  • Hello Traceyghouse and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear that you are worried about the dent on your breast. If you haven't made an appointment with your GP then do make one. Your GP  can perform a breast examination and hopefully put your mind at rest.

I am sure that if your GP felt that you needed further investigations they would refer you to a breast clinic. Most people who are referred to a breast clinic don't have cancer but if the GP has any concerns at all I am sure that they would consider referring you.

Even though it is reassuring to hear what has happened to other members on the forum everyone's situation is slightly different and it is only the clinical judgement of your doctor at the surgery that you need to listen to.

I do hope that you know more soon.
