Small lump three months after I stopped feeding

Hi,

I have a very small lump in my right breast. It is not painful at all and not noticeable.

I finished breastfeeding in August but had reduced just to night time feeds by the end of June.

i noticed the lump around then but my son has been sick and in hospital and it completely left my mind as I thought it was linked to the feeding. I just rediscovered it last night.

  • Hello and thanks for your post

Pregnancy and breast feeding can cause the breasts to change and you can read more about this here.  During and after breast feeding it's possible for your breast to feel lumpy. But it's not going to be possible to say what this lump may be due to without further investigation.

So ,the best thing to do is to make an appointment with your GP.They may offer you a telephone assessment initially and they will arrange a face to face appointment if this is necessary. Or they may decide to refer to the breast clinic for further assessment. This might seem alarming, but the majority of women referred to the breast clinic do not have breast cancer.

I hope you know more about your situation soon and that everything turns out to be okay. Give us a ring if you would like to talk things over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
