Concerned about a lump finger length up the vaginal wall

I am 24 years old. Last night I inserted my finger to have a check to make sure everything was 'normal' up there and index finger length up the vaginal wall I can feel a smooth hard lump that's quite small really, maybe the size of the end of a pencil maybe a tad bit smaller, but it really is quite far up the vaginal wall, I can just about feel it with my index finger. The first time I did that, once I pulled my finger out there was a bit of pink blood so obviously not very much, the second time in the morning there wasn't any blood but the lump was still there. The lump doesn't hurt it was just a bit of a shock to find. Im not experiencing any aches or pains or any symptoms of something not being right, I feel completely normal down there and sex isn't an issue at all. I'm not sure if this is normal or how long I've had it because this is the first time I've checked. If I hadn't of checked and put my finger so far up I'd never of known it was there, hence having no idea how long I've had it for.

I don't know if this is part of it or not but in the last 2 years I have bled after intercourse without any pain whatsoever a total of around 4 times.

  • Hello there

I'm afraid no one here will be able to tell you what this lump is or if you should be worried about it. We usually suggest if people are concerned about something they can feel in their body or any symptoms they have that are ongoing to get them checked out by their GP.

Lumps and bumps are pretty common and in most cases aren't the result of anything serious. Likewise some bleeding after sex is often caused by vaginal dryness, infection, excessive friction or rigorous sex.

If you remain concerned your doctor is best placed to assess and examine you if needed ( you can ask for a female GP if you prefer) so do contact your surgery if needed.

    All the best

    Naomi

  • HelloRach1988 and thank you for your post,

I have popped on here to let you know that you have replied to someone who posted last year, so you may not get a response from them.

It looks like you are going to get a GP appointment about this, that is the best thing to do now. No one here, I am afraid can say what, if anything, is the matter.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
