Zoledronic acid

I am soon going to start Zoledronic acid twice a year for three years.   Has or are any one else having this ?  How long is the infusion ?   And will it effect me.  Thank you hope everyone has a good day x

  • Hi [@lobelia]‍

I've had 5 infusions of zoledronic acid so far.  The actual infusion takes about 15 minutes but in my experience you're in the chair for half an hour or so while they get a line into your arm, and flush it through to check it's working.  You will need a dental check up beforehand if you haven't had one already as it's advised not to get invasive dental work done (eg tooth extraction) while being treated with zoledronic acid.

I have had zero side effects.  I've heard of a couple of people who got aches and pains but I think for most of us it's pretty uneventful.  Best of luck x

  • Thanks had my dental work done and seeing my oncologist next Monday so think I am ready  let's hope I get zero side effects.  Thank you again x

  • Hello and thanks for your post

I see that you have been given some good advice already from Sephy. Hopefully other members will come along and share their experiences.

The actual infusion of zoledronic acid is about 15 minutes or so, not very long at all. People vary in the side effects they may experience and you can read more about this here.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
