CAT T-Cell therapy

Could this treatment be offered to an adult under the age of 25 for drug-induced large B-cell lymphoma? I have read all the information about CAR T-cell therapy on the main CRUK site but am unsure whether how a lymphoma came about might impact treatment options.

I do appreciate CAR T-cell therapy is very expensive and not many people are offered it.

  • Hello and thanks for your post

I'm afraid as nurses we do not recommend treatment. This has to come from the patients specialist team who are familiar with all their medical details. So the person you are enquiring for can ask their specialist whether CAR-T cell treatment may be a suitable treatment option for them.

NHS England has information on their website about the types of cancer that can be treated with CAR T-cell therapy and lists the NHS hospitals that offer this treatment. You can see it  by clicking here.

I hope this has been of some help to you.

    Kind regards,

    Celene

  • Thank you, Celene.

My relative is not being treated at any of the listed hospitals.

The additional information is very helpful, thank you.

I had previously failed to follow the NHS link on CRUK's CAR-T cell page because I (mistakenly) thought it related only to clinical trials.

    Kind regards,

    Rose
