Need reassurance

My GP sent me for a vaginal ultrasound 3months ago and they found some thickening of my womb, I had a blood test while waiting for a referral to the hospital, blood test showed I had become anemic and my white blood cells are low, I have been bleeding heavily for 4 months now, losing big clots most days,

2 weeks ago I went to my hospital appointment and had a hysteroscopy and a biopsy, I have recieved a letter with the hysteroscopy findings, no fibroids or polyps, womb thickening is 37.8mm,

i am now just waiting for the Biopsy results, I am so scared as I just don't know what to expect, the waiting is horrible.

What else can it be if it isn't fibroids or polyps?

  • Hello and thank you for posting.

I'm sorry to hear about your worries following your ultrasound and biopsy.

Unfortunately we do not know what the biopsy might show, but a common cause is endometrial hyperplasia. I've placed here information from an NHS hospital which has created a leaflet about it.

The difficulty is in waiting for your results, as it can be so stressful waiting for news. If you can try and keep your mind distracted, it might help time pass quicker.

Take care, and hopefully you will know more about your situation soon.

    Sarah.
