Sore breast after BC treatment

Hello,

I'm looking for some advice. I had stage 1 BC last September, lumpectomy and sentinel node removed. I had clear margins and lymph. 5 days radiotherapy in December and that's been it. I'm ok but my breast is still sore, I'm dreading my first check in October as mammogram will be really painful. It it slightly swollen all the time too as I have a welt when I take my bra off. Is it possible to have lymphodeama after only one node removed. I can't feel any lumps as such only where scar is and I've always had tender boobs.

Thank you

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to hear about your breast symptoms. Swelling can persist for some time after treatment has finished. Do mention it to your hospital team/ breast care nurse when you get an opportunity, to see what they say about it.

You might want to think about a different bra, if you are getting a welt there after wearing, then this needs looking at. Swap to a sports bra without edges/stitching, or go up a size, and pad the other side/breast if needed. Try not to constrict as this will not help the swelling.

    I hope that this helps,
