Previously had BSC, concern over mole area

I had a skin lesion removed a couple of years ago and I have been closely monitoring a similar looking patch on the opposite shoulder.    It looked very similar and became raised and itchy and a mole appeared.  My GP wasnt sure so has referred me to GP surgery dermatology session, but the area has now flattened and the mole has disapeared.   I have taken regular pictures to be able to show the GP, but feel somewhat daft now attending a clinic, when no raised area or mole to show!

Is this normal for the area to regulate and return to normal?

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

I think it would be unlikely for a basal cell carcinoma to completely disappear on it's own but we are not able to diagnose anyone.

If you still have any area that you are concerned about then do attend the clinic. You can show them the flattened area and the photographs that your GP was unsure of.

It is very difficult for us to make a judgement as it is really only something that can be assessed by your doctor.

    All the best,

    Catherine
