I'm afraid that I cannot explain fully explain what was meant as it is not strictly a medical term but I hope the following information helps. 

Your biopsy results may have shown cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). These are changes to the cells that cover the outside of the cervix (squamous cells). There are 3 grades of CIN and they relate to how deeply the abnormal cells have gone into the skin covering the cervix. CIN is not cancer. 

Another type of cervical cell abnormality is called Cervical Glandular Intraepithelial Neoplasia (CGIN).  This means there are changes to the glandular cells that line the inside of the cervix. CGIN is less common than CIN, but is treated in a similar way.  CGIN is not cancer but without treatment these cells could develop into a type of cervical cancer called adenocarcinoma.

An ultrasound may be done to look at the pelvic area to see if there are other cervical problems. Sometimes with CGIN an ultrasound is done to look at the womb as these abnormal glandular cells may originally come from there.

If you are able to, it might be a good idea to get back in touch with the colposcopy team to ask them to explain your situation. Certainly there will be an opportunity to ask more questions when you get the results of the scan at a follow up appointment.
