do you no when we can start using the creams I normally use the nair for underarm it's like £1 in home bargains it's very good , I forgot to ask my nurse how long before I can use it I can see I'm not ready yet looking at scar . Let me no if you try it and how long after op I'm desperate need a good hair remover day and put fresh deodorant can't wait lol xx
I spoke with a nurse the other day as I confessed that I did shave one time (oops) she didn't say that I couldn't use hair remlval, so I'm assuming that I've got the green light to do so - however I've waited a month and my scar is healing nicely, so I feel OK to do so.
Hope this helps
Xx
Thanks so much for that , we got to use something ain't we or we be wearing long sleeves permanent lol
thanks again Lara xx
Totally!! Tell me about. Long haired smelly pits is not nice Lol!! But, it's only short term. I'm been to about four shops and none of which have hair removal cream, I'm destined to be a cave woman forever Lol.

Try home bargain or b&m that's where I normally get it xx lol defo that's how I am at the moment glad it's short term xx
Hello Mish77,
You have had some great replies to your post already so mine is really only echoing what has been said.
You need to wait for the wound to heal before applying anything to the area. This could take up to 6 weeks, although it might take a shorter or longer amount of time. If you are not sure check it out with the breast nurse or at your follow up appointment.
I am afraid we cannot recommended a specific type of hair removal, but as I said it is more to do with the wound healing.
You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Take care,
Caroline

Hi Mish
I too had all lympth nodes removed from under my right arm, as cancer had spread into my lymph nodes.
It reaĺy does depend on how long ago,and if your scars healed completely. If it has you can shave with a electric lady shave, but never ever use a razer blade to shave,as your underarm will be numb, and you will never regain the feelings under your arm like you used to,so using a razer blade, you would end up cutting yourself as yiu can't feel the razer gliding over your skin.
I shave using an electric type razer,I got a reasonably priced one from boots and mine runs on battery's as well as yiu can plug it in,if you wish to.
Hi Caroline,
Thank you for your support. I had my op just over four weeks ago and the surgeon was able to perform my lymph node biopsy without making an incision under my armpit, so I don't have a scare there - however I was wanting to know how long I could wait before using any underarm deodorant and able to use hair removal cream.
Kindest regatds
Michelle
