Hi.. I'm 6 weeks after lumpectomy surgery, I had a 1.5cm lump removed. I have been offered radiotherapy which I don't want, has anyone had early stage breast cancer and not had radiotherapy?..
I am sorry to hear that you are having treatment for breast cancer. I can appreciate you want to know what other people's experience of not having radiotherapy are after having a lumpectomy.
Currently in the UK people with a very low risk of the cancer coming back may only have part of the breast treated with radiotherapy. Or they may not have radiotherapy at all.
Do talk about this with your breast care nurse who will be able to tell you why radiotherapy has been offered and what are the benefits and risks of having it. We have information about this on our website here
