Prostate cancer

I had radiation for prostate cancer in May and I'm on hormone therapy still and I'm finding I have really low energy. Just wondering if this is normal?

  • Hi Tomy

Several years ago i had 37 radiotherapy treatment and 2 years of hormone therapy.  I was told by the nurses if i fely tired or had lack of energy, just to gos and have a lie down for a few minutes

    This worked well

I hope this works out for you. My psa was 70 bit a few weeks after finishing radio it came right down to 0.01Even now several years later it is still only i.29

    I have been very lucky.

    Take care, Brian

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

Low energy and fatigue are commonly experienced by men having treatment for prostate cancer. The after effects of radiotherapy can persist for up to a year after treatment has ended. Taking short breaks/naps during the day can help. But equally gentle daily exercise can help offset it as well.

The UK charity Prostate Cancer UK has some helpful information on this on the links here,

    prostatecanceruk.org/.../fatigue

and how to get support with this here,

    prostatecanceruk.org/.../help-with-fatigue

I hope that this is useful,

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Yours sincerely,

    Vanda
