Liver MRI with contrast - need a blood test with results.

I had an MRI with contrast for my liver on July 3rd - this was due to an abnormality (allegedly common) called a hemangioma. I resquested a follow up a year later (this year) as I was not happy with them saying it's "possible" thaf it is a hemangioma.

I have an appointment on October 4th for my results and I have now been asked to book a blood test prior to receiving my results, is this normal? I am worried sick having to wait so long.

Is this normal? I am going to be so cross if I turn up and it's nothing.

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

Blood tests are often requested alongside other scans or investigations. I don't know which blood test it is, but it might be routine liver function tests.

This will help the doctor as it gives them more clinical information.

Hopefully you will get to know more in October. Try not to over think it, as it is a follow up appointment.

    Best wishes,

    Vanda
