Waiting for a call from GP

Hello all,

I've had a pelvic and transv scans two days ago and just callled the practice to check if they have the results. The receptionist said that she booked me in for a call from GP on Friday in two weeks to discuss the results.

I've had sleepless nights and been crying everyday and now that they've said it's going to be another two weeks to speak to someone I really think I can't cope with it. If it was bad new would they just book me in earlier or there is no rule to that?

I will appreciate any advice please.

Thank you

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

I can understand that waiting for tests can be very unsettling and I do understand.

I am not sure why you were originally investigated for a scan in the first place?  There are many different conditions other then cancer that sometimes need to be investigated so try not to think too far ahead or the worst until you know more.

Receptionists on the whole are not allowed to give results on the phone. I can't say what it means that the doctor will speak to you in two weeks and it is impossible for me to say what it means.

Try to keep yourself busy and your mind on other things to try and distract yourself as much as possible.

If you feel that it would be helpful to chat any of this through with one of the nurses on the helpline then you are more then welcome to give us a ring. Our number is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and we are here from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

    Best Wishes,

    Catherine
