Endometrial biopsy bleeding

Hi, I had an endometrial biopsy 8 days ago for unusual bleeding between periods and am awaiting the results, I was told that bleeding can occur for a few days afterwards but I am still bleeding now and it's as heavy as a period I have mild cramping and general feel ok just tired, is this normal or should I be concerned? I have also lost a few small clots but this is normal for me during a period. I cant tell if this is my period or not as I suffer with bleeding constantly and normally only get 5 days break inbetween I did have bleeding for the week prior to the procedure and this was stopping by the time I had the biopsy but wasn't completely stopped

  • Hi Worried Mum87 and thanks for posting.

It is normal to have some bleeding after a endometrial biopsy which can last for up to a week. People often experience cramps too.  You can take pain killers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen to help with this.

If the bleeding does not settle after 2 weeks, you pass lots of blood clots, have a temperature or the pain becomes severe, then get in touch with your GP who can examine you and make sure you do not have an infection.

I hope this information is helpful.
