Recalled after breast clinic appointment

Hello, my doctor found a lump in my breast when I went with pain while breastfeeding my 7 day old son (the pain wasn'trelatedto the lump, I didn't know.i had it), he wanted to keep an eye on it for 3 weeks and if it was still there refer me to the breast clinic. Long story short I've been today and they found a lump on the scan so they did a mammogram and a biopsy while I was there this morning, within an hour of been home the dr called and said that they had to do the mammogram with finding the lump as obviously he didn't really want to do it if I was breastfeeding,  he's said they want to see me again next week and have booked me in for Tuesday. I was just wondering what they maybe wanting me to go back for, I can't help but worry. Just wondered if anyone has had similar and may know what to expect at my next appointment.

Many thanks x

  • Hi, hope you don't mind me jumping in here, but you may not get a reply from the nurses until tomorrow and I know how horrible it is to be left hanging. I would guess that they want you back to discuss the biopsy results. I'm sorry you have this worry and I hope you are able to enjoy your baby in spite of this. I waited nearly three weeks to get my biopsy results, so I understand how anxious you must feel. Take care. Amy

  • Thanks so much for your reply, I just can't help but worry it all seems so fast and thinking they'd give good news over the phone.

I hope you had a good result from your biopsy. Xx

  • Hello and thank you for contacting us.

Congratulations on your newborn, I'm so sorry you are having this stress and worry while you are feeding him.

Unfortunately we don't know why they want you to go back, but they are probably wanting to be thorough, so do try and keep an open mind about it all.

There are other things that can go on in the breast, I have placed a link to them here.

Take care, and hopefully this is all gets sorted for you soon. You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040, 9am till 5pm, Monday to Friday.

    Sarah.

  • Thanks so much for your reply.

I suppose there's never a good time for anyone to go through the unknown with testing, I can't fault the hospital with their speed and compassion at all.

Thank you for the links too xx
