Lump behind right ear

Hi,

I noticed a tiny lump behind my right ear (kind of on the hard boney but behind my ear, maybe my head/neck) not sure what you'd count it as, around 4 months ago. I have seen 2 doctors who are not worried as it is as small as a pea and is not growing. I don't think I've lost any weight, I'm not having night sweats, etc. I'm just worried as I have an ultra sound booked for 2nd September. This lump has never gone. Does any one has any clue what it could be. I'm not sure if it moves or if it's hard because I've played with it that much and now I'm not sure anymore.

thanks

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

Unfortunately, as nurses, we can't diagnose, or tell you what it might be on this forum. It sounds like the doctors are not unduly worried, and have ordered the scan just to get more information about it. Most bumps are fatty tissue, or local lymph nodes. The Ultrasound should provide adequate clinical information about what it is, for the doctor. Try not to over think things, and don't google symptoms, as this rarely helps. Keep busy and occupied, and use the support of friends and family if you are anxious.

    Best wishes,

    Vanda
